Roseburg Certified Burn Manager Demonstration Burn

Our second prescribed burn was on October 25, 2024.

We burned around 14 acres in Oakland, OR. A large grassland that had been under active conservation for almost 20 years. This parcel had been burned once before within the last 30 years. It was a beautiful success!

The latest CBM class has just completed their class time and ended the week with a demonstration burn. The students were able to get hands on experience, some for the first time.

Oakland Understory Burn 2024

Our first prescribed burn as a PBA was on July 1st, 2024.

While there were 53 acres slated to burn in the Oakland, OR area, we chose to do 9 acres due to logistical reasons. It is predominantly Oak Savanna/woodland. Our goal was to reintroduce fire to this landscape after years of fire suppression, to train our local community members, and to start to build the foundation of our fire community in the Umpqua!

We had a great turn out and a lovely burn. With the knowledge and confidence, the landowner gained from this event, he was able to lead the burning of the remainder acreage!
